About This Show

How to give voice to the unspoken? How to transform the past of the Holocaust into a joyous celebration of life? Find out in Finding My Mother’s Voice, the uplifting tribute to the triumph of laughter and song over the Holocaust, when internationally acclaimed actress and playwright Naava Piatka brings to life her vivacious Yiddish comedienne mother, Chayela Rosenthal, “Wunderkind of the Vilna Ghetto Theater,” accompanied on piano by her own teenage singer/composer daughter, Jackie, the same age as Chayela was during the Holocaust. Playing both her vivacious Holocaust survivor mother and her second generation self seeking to reconcile the silence of the past, Naava blends past with present in a spellbinding journey of discovery to reclaim her rich theatrical heritage in a celebration of humor, song, family reconnection and life itself!

Part of EAST TO EDINBURGH, showcasing four new American shows headed to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2004.
