Cyrano de Bergerac / Burning

This production of Cyrano will feature an intimate ensemble of actor/musicians, and will highlight the play’s celebration of language
and its exploration of Cyrano’s humility and self-doubt. Gabriel Barre is an internationally acclaimed director (Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party) and performer (Tony
Nomination for Starmites), who made his Broadway directing debut this season with the new musical, Amazing Grace.

~in repertory with~In Burning, Cyrano has become Cy, a woman kicked out of the Army for being gay, who, like Cyrano, suffers from insecurity that prevents her from pursuing love. She now takes on the world with her words, blogging from her country store in a remote Western town near the base where she last served. The play is not only a fresh take on the Cyrano story, it tackles critical contemporary issues of gender inequality, discrimination based on sexual orientation, and military abuse. In love and war, words unspoken are the words that burn.
