About This Show

Speeding hands pound conga drums, and set painted bodies flying into exuberant tribal dance. The young dancers of Batoto Yetu (Swahili for “Our Children”) explode into motion. They are summoning the magical Mukishi! The great African spirit senses that the village is in danger, and reveals himself to one boy who can help make things right. Fabulous masks and enormous puppets, designed by Garland Farwell, add a fantastical feel to the unmatched energy of Batoto Yetu’s powerful dancers.
