About This Show

The Foundry Theatre presents a special return engagement of And God Created Great Whales, a music theater piece conceived, composed, and performed by Rinde Eckert. This extraordinary and haunting musical adventure dives into the psyche of Nathan, a gifted composer on a quest to finish an opus: and opera based on Moby Dick. Desperately fighting against a disease eating away at his mind, he is forced to rely on a tape recorder hung around his neck, each day pressing “Play” and hearing yesterday’s instructions to himself. As his faculties irrevocably diminish, Nathan is forced into a race against time, struggling through waves of confusion not only for the notes of his opera, but for the very chords of his own mind.
