8 Ways my Mother was Conceived, written and performed by Michaela Di Cesare, took Toronto and Montreal by storm and is now ready to put the old adage to the test: If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.

Or, as my mother puts it, “Baby, just make it here and never go anywhere. Ever.”

My Catholic Italian family believes my mother was conceived by a virgin. The logic being that my grandparents were unmarried when it happened. Therefore: act of God, NOT of the bod. A harmless myth – until I realized I suffered from a Virgin Complex that was sabotaging my love life.
