WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

This series presents several new works from some up and coming playwrights.

The Woodpecker by Samuel Brett Williams
This is a tale of two worlds: the small town of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and the grim reality of Guantanamo Bay. It's Jimmy's last day before joining the military, he's addicted to glue, his mom is seeing visions in the sweet potato casserole, and his wheelchair-bound dad can kick his ass. He turns to God for answers, and finds . . . an Ivory-Billed Woodpecker.

Canis lupus/Canis familiaris by Gretchen Icenogle
This new work focuses on two ambitious and uncompromising wildlife biologists, Diane and Maggie, who enter into a fractious partnership while studying wolves in remote Alaska. As winter closes in, human and lupine power struggles become dangerously intertwined.

Three Screams by Vincent Delaney
This play opens on a morning in Oslo and Edvard Munch's Scream has been stolen - again. Delaney considers who keeps taking this painting, and why? This new play charts the twisted comic journey of a masterpiece, and the thieves who can't leave it alone.

Tio Pepe by Matthew Lopez
This story follows Inez Candelaria and her three children - singers, dancers and actors living in 1950's New York who dream of a life as Broadway gypsies. Their dreams are confronted by the reality of the demolition of their apartment building to make way for the new Lincoln Center complex that's being planned for their neighborhood. Tio Pepe is a play about the struggle between dreams and reality, set against the background of the golden age of American musicals and the bustle and growth of Robert Moses' New York.
