WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The internationally ignored songstress is back! After some time away, Hedwig and the Angry Inch returns to the Tri-State with a vengeance, headlining at the historic Barrow Mansion in Jersey City. (Just 2 short blocks from the Grove St. Path for all you New Yorkers!)
All the songs you love and all the shiny red lipstick you wish you wore with a fresh glam-punk-rock look!
Jonathan Whitton, 2008 MAC award winner, is guaranteed to take his place among the very best to ever perform this glamorous role!
Hedwig, born a boy named Hansel in Communist East Berlin, falls in love with an American G.I. and undergoes a sex-change operation in order to marry him and flee the country for America. The operation gets botched, leaving Hedwig with an angry inch, her GI husband abandons poor Hedwig in Kansas and she's left to fend for herself by writing songs and doing a series of side gigs. When she meets young Tommy Gnosis the two bond, until Tommy steals Hedwig's songs and becomes a huge rock star leaving Hedwig behind. We meet Hedwig at the Barrow Mansion, right across the river from Tommy's big show!
ONLY 2 blocks from the PATH train, PLENTY of directional signs and LOTS of good food and drink specials in the immediate area for dining and after theatre cocktails.
