WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Acclaimed author Chaim Potok transports us to a world completely strange, yet strangely familiar. This story of two fathers and their two teen-age sons unfolds amid a bustling Jewish neighborhood in 1944 Brooklyn. One Hasidic and the other Orthodox, the boys prove catalysts for one another's transition to manhood along parallel spiritual and familial struggles. At the center of it all rests not only the uncompromising mystery of being chosen, but also the extraordinary choices we must all make to fill our lives with meaning.
