WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Hannibal Lokumbe is one of the most masterful composers and musicians of our time. This retrospective of his work will include Lokumbe playing solo, with his quartet, and in a wide variety of works (both epic and intimate) that welcome a full choir as well as special guest vocalist Jevetta Steele, whose unforgettable voice is best known from the soundtrack of the cult film, Bagdad Cafe. The program will include such works as Soul Brother, a work created to honor Malcolm X, and When the Peace Comes, a work for solo viola and poet, as well as many other performances.
