Elf to Offer Autism-Friendly Performance at Paper Mill Playhouse

The performance is designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities.

Paper Mill Playhouse will present a special autism-friendly performance of the holiday musical Elf on December 23. The performance, which is designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities, marks the second time Paper Mill Playhouse has expanded its autism-friendly performances to a mainstage production,

During the special performance, the theater environment will be altered, providing a sensory-friendly, comfortable, and judgment-free space that is welcoming to all families. The performance itself will be adjusted with special attention paid to lighting and sound.

Inspired by the 2003 film that starred Will Ferrell, Elf has a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. The story of an orphan raised by Santa's elves and his quest to find his family, Elf played on Broadway in 2010 and 2012.

The principal company is led by James Moye (Bullets Over Broadway) as Buddy the Elf and Kate Fahrner (Wicked) as Jovie. Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show]) takes on the role of Emily Hobbs, with Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde) as Walter Hobbs, Paul C. Vogt (Chicago) as Santa, Jake Faragalli as Michael, Cleve Asbury (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) as Mr. Greenway, Jessica Sheridan (Sister Act) as Deb, and DeMone (Ragtime) as the Macy's Manager.
