Ben Vereen Set for Black History Month Presentation at CCNY

Tony Award winner Ben Vereen will participate in a Black History Month presentation at The City College of New York’s Aaron Davis Hall on Monday, February 27 at 5:30pm.

Vereen will discuss blackface minstrelsy and his personal contribution to this controversial theatrical phenomenon. He will show a screening of his portrayal of Bert Williams, the early 20th Century vaudevillian as part of his presentation, which is sponsored by CCNY’s Black Studies Program.

Vereen earned a Tony Award for his performance in Pippin. Among his other Broadway credits are Wicked, Fosse, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, Jelly’s Last Jam, Grind, and I’m Not Rappaport.
