All-Star Faculty Slated for Broadway Dreams' Summer Intensive in Charlotte

The performing arts education nonprofit Broadway Dreams has assembled an all-star faculty for its upcoming Summer Intensive in Charlotte, North Carolina, July 29-August 5, as part of its #ComeTogether Summer Intensive Tour. The program offers highly personalized musical theater training and mentoring through weeklong performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

In Charlotte, students will get a chance to work with three Broadway directors and choreographers: Tony-nominated director and choreographer Dan Knechtges (Xanadu), Spencer Liff (TV's So You Think You Can Dance), and writer and director Gordon Greenberg (Holiday Inn). Additional faculty will include Tyler Hanes (Cats), Alex Newell (TV's Glee), Royal Swedish Opera star Florian Voss, Nick Adams (Wicked's first national tour), composer Lynne Shankel (Allegiance), musical director and composer Balint Varga (Houdini: Escaping Death), Julie Craig (West Side Story), Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Sara Jean Ford (Cats), Alexis Carra (Sweet Charity), MiMi Scardulla (Gigantic), Holland America Cruise Line musical director Leandro Coelho, and Van Hansis (TV's As the World Turns).

The intensive will culminate in two public performances in which students and faculty will perform selections from Chess, Sweet Charity, The Who’s Tommy, Company, Sister Act, and original dance pieces as seen on So You Think You Can Dance. They will take place on August 4 and 5 at Booth Playhouse, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
