Casting has been announced for Crossroads Theatre Company’s production of the musical, Ain’t Misbehavin’, to be directed and choreographed by André De Shields. It will run October 6-23.

The musical features a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., music by Thomas Wright “Fats” Waller, and lyrics by various writers. It recalls the glory of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and ’30s, and features hit favorites of the era including “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love, Baby,” “It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie,” “Squeeze Me” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”

The cast will feature Tyrone Davis Jr. (André), Zurin Villanueava (Charlaine), Rheaume Crenshaw (Nell), Johmaalya Adelekan (Armelia), and Jacob Ming-Trent (Ken). They will be backed by a live band, headed by J. Leonard Oxley as musical director and onstage pianist.

The design team will include Burke Wilmore (lighting/set design), Deborah Caney (costume design), and Joshua Reid (sound design).

De Shields starred in the original Broadway production of the musical. He received Tony Award nominations for Play On! and The Full Monty.
