Bebe Neuwirth and Paul Reiser will star in the Atlantic Theater Company’s production of Writer’s Block, written and directed by Woody Allen. The show begins preview performances on April 23 and is set to open on May 13.

Writer’s Block comprises two new one-act comedies: Riverside Drive is set on the streets of New York City, and Old Saybrook takes place in a house in Connecticut. Allen, who is best known for having written and directed such films as Annie Hall, Manhattan, and Hannah and Her Sisters, will be making his theatrical directorial debut with Writer’s Block. His credits as a playwright include Don’t Drink the Water, Play it Again, Sam, and The Floating Light Bulb.

Neuwirth won a Tony Award for her performance as Velma Kelly in the Broadway revival of Chicago; she also starred as Lola in Damn Yankees and appeared in Fosse, Sweet Charity, Little Me, and A Chorus Line. Reiser is familiar to audiences for his work on the long running TV show Mad About You and in the movie Beverly Hills Cop and its sequel.

The cast of Writer’s Block also includes Kate Blumberg (The Syringa Tree), Annabelle Gurwitch (Dream Team with Annabelle & Michael), Clea Lewis (Ellen), Richard Portnow (The Sopranos), Grant Shaud (Murphy Brown), Skipp Sudduth (Third Watch), and Christopher Evan Welch (The Crucible). Santo Loquasto, Jim Ingalls, and Laura Bauer are respectively designing the sets, lighting, and costumes for the production.

The Atlantic Theater Company is located at 336 West 20th Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues. All tickets for Writer’s Block are priced at $50 and may be purchased by calling Telecharge at 212-239-6200. Additional information may be found online at www.atlantictheater.org
