Additional Casting Announced for The Boy From Oz

Additional casting for The Boy From Oz, the musical biography of Peter Allen, has been announced. The show is scheduled to begin previews at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre on September 16 and to open on October 16.

Previously announced star Hugh Jackman (X-Men on film, Oklahoma! at London’s Royal National Theatre), will portray Allen, who started off in the Australian outback and rose to international fame as a singer, songwriter, and a husband of Liza Minnelli. The cast of The Boy from Oz will also include Jarrod Emick (The Rocky Horror Show, Damn Yankees) as Allen’s companion, Greg; Beth Fowler (Bells Are Ringing, Beauty and the Beast) as Allen’s mother; Michael Mulheren (Kiss Me, Kate) as his father and manager/promoter; Isabel Keating (Indian Ink) as his mother-in-law and mentor, Judy Garland; and Mitchel Federan (The Music Man) as the young Peter Allen.

The production will feature Allen’s own songs as well as music and lyrics by Burt Bacharach, Christopher Cross, Dean Pitchford, Carol Bayer Sager, and others. It will be directed by Philip Wm. McKinley (THWAK, Zombie Prom, Chanel) and choreographed by Joey McKneely (The Wild Party, The Life, Smokey Joe’s Cafe). Additional members of the cast and the creative team will be announced shortly.
