It has just been announced that Avenue Q, the hit Off-Broadway musical concerning the twentysomething angst of humans and puppets alike, will be transferring to Broadway’s John Golden Theatre this summer. The show is scheduled to begin previews in early July and open on July 31.

A Sesame Street spoof with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, and direction by Jason Moore, Avenue Q was originally scheduled to end its run at the Vineyard Theatre in early April but recently extended there through May 11.

In his review of the show, TheaterMania’s Philip Hopkins wrote, “With a stellar young cast, hilarious lyrics and book, and spit-polished, spoofical songs, Avenue Q is a hit in the making.”
