It has just been announced that Kitty Carlisle Hart and Anne Kaufman Schneider will headline “Tales & Tunes,” a benefit for The Lost Musicals Charitable Trust, in three upcoming performances.

Hart, former chair of the New York State Council on the Arts and the widow of playwright Moss Hart, began her career as an actress in the original productions of such Broadway musicals as Champagne, Sec, White Horse Inn, and Walk With Music. Schneider is the daughter of playwright, director, and Hart collaborator George S. Kaufman. The pair will introduce lesser-known songs by famous Broadway composers and tell stories and anecdotes about themselves and such luminaries as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and George and Ira Gershwin. The songs will be performed by a yet-to-be-announced cast made up of three current Broadway stars.

“Tales & Tunes,” directed by Ian Marshall Fisher, was a major success in a recent production at London’s Royal Opera House at Covent Garden. The show will be performed on Monday, April 28 at 6:30pm and on Sunday, May 4 at 3pm and 6:30pm, in Florence Gould Hall at the French Institute-Alliance Francaise (55 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison avenues). Tickets range in price from $35 to $55 and may be purchased at the box office or by calling Ticketmaster at 212-307-4100. For further information, call 212-355-6100.
