Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein will replace Topol for the Toronto engagement of the North American tour of Fiddler on the Roof. Fierstein is stepping into the role of Tevye following Topol's announcement that he would need to leave the production due to a shoulder injury requiring emergency long-term treatment. Fiddler is scheduled to play Toronto's Canon Theatre from December 8 to January 10.

The Joseph Stein-Sheldon Harnick-Jerry Bock musical has been directed by Sammy Dallas Bayes, recreating the original direction and choreography by Jerome Robbins. The company currently features Susan Cella (Golde), Rena Strober (Tzeitel), Jamie Davis (Hodel), Deborah Grausman (Chava), Kerry Alexander (Shprintze), Mary Stout (Yente the Matchmaker), Erik Liberman (Motel the Tailor), Colby Foytik (Perchik), along with David Brummel, Larry Block, Joel Bernstein, Gary Brintz, Michael J. Farina, Rick Pessagno, Julie Brooks, Sean Patrick Doyle, Stephen Lee Anderson, Eric Van Tielen, Matthew Marks, David W. Gilleo, Robbie Roby, Trevor Illingworth, and Arthur A. Atkinson.

The creative team includes Ken Daigle (assistant direction and choreography), Steve Gilliam (sets), Tony Ray Hicks (costumes), Ken Billington and Jason Kantrowitz (lighting), Duncan Robert Edwards (sound), Larry Blank (orchestrations), and David Andrews Rogers (musical direction).
