Emmy Award winner Susan Lucci attended a recent performance of Newsies, playing at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Following the show, she spent time backstage with the production's company.
Featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a new book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical, inspired by the real life "Newsboy Strike of 1899." The new stage version will contain both new songs by the original team of Menken and Feldman as well as many that they wrote for the film, which had a screenplay by Bob Tzudiker & Noni White.
The production, directed by Jeff Calhoun and featuring choreography by Christopher Gattelli, runs through October 16, following its opening on September 25.
