University Settlement, founded in 1886, is America's first social settlement. Located on New York's Lower East Side, the Settlement assists immigrants and other low-income people with a full network of programs.
The Arts Program produces workshops and performances, offers Friday morning dance class for professional dancers, and afterschool dance for young people. Rehearsals and performances may be booked in the Auditorium and the Gymnasium. Dance-Works-in-Progress, a monthly Arts Program series, features dance by established and emerging choreographers in a thoughtful and nurturing environment.
