About This Venue
The Anspach Theatre at the Public seats 275. Founded in 1954 by Joseph Papp, this is arguably the strongest not-for-profit theater in New York. The productions presented here are continually daring and inventive. The success of this theater stems from Mr. Papp's belief that good theater should be available to everybody, not just those who can afford Broadway prices.
