Synopsis
It is 1872, Grant is in the White House, Queen Victoria is on the throne, and conservatism rules the nation. Then along comes Victoria Woodhull, a swindler's daughter who comes to New York City by way of hustling and prostitution. And now she decides to run for President. Based on a very true story, Woodhull tells the true story of Victoria Woodhull, an outrageous and revolutionary former prostitute who--with a platform that included abolition of the death penalty, legalized prostitution, and free love--was the first woman to run for President in 1872. Her story exemplifies the American Dream, illuminating the corruption of politics, and the hardships of womanhood in any century.
