This is A two-part lecture series by Thurman E. Scott at The Actors Theatre Workshop. Learn how to see the complex times we live in through the eyes of a theatre artist. Using examples from history and from our daily lives, master teacher of acting and creative process Thurman E. Scott will explore the issues we struggle with today that undermine our success, confidence and hope. Drawing on his deep understanding of human complexity gained through acting in and directing more than 60 classical and contemporary plays, and teaching original creative training programs to prison inmates and homeless children, Scott presents a clear path we can follow to overcome the multifaceted challenges of today. Learn to develop awareness and integrate your discoveries, new energy and clarity into an overall philosophy. Thurman E. Scott's extensive work on the stage includes a wide range of roles in over 50 classical and contemporary plays, including six seasons with the New York Shakespeare Festival; a special performance for the Moscow Art Theatre as Thomas Becket in Becket; an Obie Award winning performance in Open 24 Hours; the lead in the national tour of Lorraine Hansberry's To Be Young, Gifted, and Black; the lead in the national tour of Athol Fugard's The Blood Knot; Tatum in The Bridgehead for which Actors Theatre of Louisville; the psychiatrist in Getting Out, a role he originated for the Actors Theatre of Louisville; and Caliban in Baltimore's Center Stage The Tempest, for which he also received a Best Actor Award.
