Synopsis

Staged in a sublet apartment at 181 Avenue B in the East Village, the performance environment becomes part of the experience as actors and audience share a common living space. This intensifies themes inherent in the play, where the action turns again and again on issues of authenticity and the duality of human nature. True to Curious Frog's mission of showcasing non-traditional actors, the casting of Asian-American actors promises a fresh perspective with a family of Eastern descent tackling a script that delves into the negotiated realities of the American West. True West also presents Curious Frog's first contemporary production, having toured Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors and Much Ado About Nothing to NYC parks.
