Synopsis

The New York Art Ensemble presents the Tribeca New Music Festival '06.

Generation Y - Emerging Voices Sunday, April 9, at 7 PM
This concert features an exciting selection of music from some of our most important new composers born after 1975: Matthew Briggs, Michael Brown, Sebastian Chang, Robert Farren, and Judd Greenstein. What is a new generation's take on music? Find out, in this concert that ranges from hip new processed and edgy electronic instruments and percussion, to traditional set-ups (violin & piano, cello & piano with a twist), in a program of exciting new works. All concerts are presented at the Flea Theater--a great place to relax and enjoy. Join the party and have a glass of wine! The fun continues after the performance with a chance to hang out and talk with the musicians and other audience members.

Monsters on the Loose! Sunday, May 7, at 7 PM
Violinists Mary Rowell, pianist Geoffrey Burleson, and other NYAE monsters perform. Mary Rowell's playing is "Flaming, jagged, and fascinating, a performer of hyperactive brilliance with an avant-classical delivery that provides a unique presence." -- NY Times. Geoffrey Burleson is "a remarkable pianist, a first-class instrumental presence whose performances are outright thrilling." -- Boston Globe.

On the program: Elegy by Carol Alban, 3-Page Sonata by Charles Ives, Grand Sonata by Michael Sahl, 12th Piano Sonata by Vincent Persichetti, 3 Pieces for Violin & Piano by Preston Stahly, Try to Believe by Randall Woolf.

This outstanding duo has quickly gained a reputation for astonishing virtuosity and musicality. Join the party and have a glass of wine! The fun continues after the performance with a chance to hang out and talk with the musicians and other audience members.

The Body of Your Dreams
Kathleen Supové -In Performance Sunday, May 14, at 7 PM

Experience the "Exploding Piano" performance art of Kathleen Supové in this exciting concert of new works for the Yamaha Disclavier piano and media. "What Ms. Supové is really exploding is the piano recital as we have known it, a mission more radical and arguably more needed." --Anthony Tommasini, NY Times

On the program: Delta Space by Lucas Ligeti, Compassion by Julia Wolfe, No Luck, No Happiness by Randall Woolf, Blues Cubed (premiere) by John King, The Body of Your Dreams by Jacob Ter Veldhuis.

Electric Kompany -Music from the Avant Pop Sunday, May 21, at 7 PM
Guitarist Kevin Gallagher and the Electric Kompany continue their groundbreaking journey into the Avant-Pop, arranging, composing, and commissioning music for rock quartet---the "modern instrument ensemble of our times."

The concert begins (electric guitar & piano) with Architectonics by Erkki-Sven Tüür, Fratres by Arvo Pärt, and Grab It! by Jacob Ter Veldhuis. After the intermission, the Electric Kompany performs three works by Nick Didkovsky, Three Miniatures by Marc Mellits, and 4 songs from Justines Red by Thad Wheeler.

Don't miss these rewarding concerts. You won't be disappointed! Join the party and have a glass of wine! The fun continues after the performance with a chance to hang out and talk with the musicians and other audience members.
