Synopsis
The New York Musical Theatre Festival in association with George DeMarco and David Gerard presents the premiere of The Tragic And Horrible Life Of The Singing Nun. The hilarious new musical about the 60's pop phenomenon, the Singing Nun has music & lyrics by Andy Monroe, with book & additional lyrics by Blair Fell. Michael Schiralli directs.
The new musical tells the dark, dangerous and hilarious story of the ill-fated nun who sang the Grammy-winning 60's hit 'Dominique-Nique-Nique'. Told through the eyes of a Nun named Sister Coco Callmeishmael, the musical gazes through a pop-culture prism, pulling every candy-colored piece of Catholic Camp -- with a phenomenal score -- to recount Sister Smile's uproariously funny, but ultimately tragic story of sky-rocketing fame and meteoric decline. Tragic? YES! Irreverent? ABSOLUTELY. Completely True? (sort of)!
