Synopsis

The Orphan Singer is adapted from the book written and illustrated by award-winning author Emily Arnold McCully, and features music by Antonio Vivaldi, libretto by Barbara Zinn Krieger. Music is selected and arranged by Rick Erickson. Produced by Making Books Sing.

A child prodigy learns that her musical talent alone is not enough. She discovers that tenacity, perseverance and the support and sacrifices of others propel us toward our greatest potential and realizing our dreams. The Orphan Singer is a visually beautiful, exciting, one-hour production, introducing family audiences to the music of Vivaldi and the splendor of Venice during the Baroque period! A cast of four gifted actor/singers include: Alissa Hunnicutt, Anne Ricci, Scott Reiburn and Michael Gabriel Goodfriend. An onstage chamber ensemble bring the acclaimed story to life.

Making Books Sing is a prominent, not-for-profit, New York-based theatre and arts education organization. Daytime performances at 10:30 am are open to the general public as well as school groups. Weekend performances are highlighted by special guest reader of the book.
