AWOL Theatre Project and Pennyseal Productions present The Mistress Cycle, a daring original new musical, tells the story of five women: Tess, a contemporary Manhattan photographer; Anais Nin, famed sexual adventurer of the early 20th century; Diane de Poitiers, mistress of King Henri II of France in the 16th century; Lulu White, a turn-of-the-last-century bordello Madame; and Ching, a 14-year-old concubine in 12th century China. Though each inhabits the role differently, together they share their experiences of "mistresshood" to learn, grow and identify with one another.
