Synopsis

Celebrating the last 80 years of black women in music, Sandra Reaves-Phillips recreates the essences of the fabulous Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Mahalia Jackson. Backed by a live jazz band, Sandra weaves their personal stories into the music they made famous. This is a great introduction to the world of vocal jazz and blues and a perfect way to celebrate Black History Month.
