Synopsis

"In the last few years, Wakka Wakka Productions have created a mix of wonderfully diverse shows that balance impish joy with cutting-edge theatricality, demonstrating some of the most consistently enjoyable performances in New York." - Back Stage

Wakka Wakka Productions presents a unique blend of theater history, puppetry, and dark comedy with the world premiere of The Death of Little Ibsen. Conceived, written and directed by the Wakka Wakka ensemble, the play commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the death of the noted dramatist on May 23, 1906. Inspired by Ibsen's childhood puppet theater, this production for adult audiences blends live actors and puppetry.

The Death of Little Ibsen is a dark comedy that maps Ibsen's quest to find his true self. On this unusual journey, the literary giant and his puppet alter ego "Little Ibsen" wrestle with ghosts of both Ibsen's characters and real people from his past as the duo prepares for their final earthly battle.

The NY Times says: "am exquisite little one-act show that evokes the best of Jim Henson's early, dangerous days with the Muppets. ... These people may be genuises."
