Synopsis
The Savoy Swingers and Mickey D take us back to the Harlem Renaissance, bringing to the forefront the time of, Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, W.E.B. Dubois, Zora Neale Hurston, and the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).The dancers tell the thrilling story with their sassy tap, swing and high-flying Lindy Hop. The jazz and the blues of the south moved to a community in the north, called Harlem. Become part of the era with the poetry of Langston Hughes, the music of Count Basie and Jimmy Lunceford and the dancing of the lindy hop. The lindy hop is a dance rooted in the grand of age of Harlem and has today evolved into the West Coast Swing, Rock'n'Roll, Boogie Woogie, the Jitterbug, Jive, Bop, Shag, Balboa, and the Imperial. So, be sure to bring your dancin? shoes.
