Synopsis

Jean Cocteau Repertory continues its 34th Season as one of the nation's only permanent resident repertory companies with Shakespeare's classic Romeo & Juliet, directed by Rod McLucas. In this fast-paced, condensed version of Shakespeare's classic, six young actors playing many parts bring us all the sex, violence and self-discovery of the world's greatest teen melodrama in less than 90 minutes. Served up hot, and without an intermission, this highly stylized production of Romeo & Juliet explores the complex equation of sex and violence, love and death from a contemporary, genderless perspective.

Emphasizing the narrative of this well-known text, McLucas's production is an innovative interpretation, using costumes derived from high fashion, elaborate fight scene choreography and original music composed by Jonathan Sandborn.
