Synopsis
The Raw Impressions Music Theatre Marathon
Event #20: Contemporary Music Theatre
Raw Impressions, Inc. presents its second annual Music Theatre Marathon, premiering 8 new ten-minute musicals each week for three weeks. For each event, 8 composers and 8 writers who have never met are paired up and given guidelines to create a new 10-minute music theatre piece. With the help of 2 directors, 2 musical directors, and 10 performers, the new works are premiered only 10 days after the artists' first meeting. Each week showcases a different group of participants. The 2006 Raw Impressions Music Theatre Marathon will premier 24 new 10-minute musicals in all, involving the talents of almost 100 artists!
Event #20 features: Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy, Tony Nom.), Charles Bloom (Pablo), Adam Overett (Call It Courage), Robin Rothstein (On Deaf Ears), Thursday Farrar (Aida, Parade, Once Upon A Mattress), Orville Mendoza (Pacific Overtures).
Raw Impressions' mission is to inspire artists to be prolific with excellence. A nonprofit organization, Raw Impressions creates opportunities for artists to take risks and work with new collaborators. Through a supported speedy development process free from commercial pressures, the new work is presented in front of an audience, allowing artists to just be artists.
