Synopsis

Winner of the Edinburgh International Festival's "Best of the Fest" Award, Purple Hearts is based on real events: For as long as three weeks after the attack, soldiers survived aboard the sunken vessel U.S.S. West Virginia, waiting to be rescued. At the bottom of the sea, trapped under impossible conditions, they struggled to keep hope -- and themselves -- alive. The descent begins December 7, 1941.
