Hailed by Guitarra Magazine as a genius for both his performing and compositional abilities, Gyan Riley received a recording contract from New Albion Records for his debut CD of original works ("Food for the Bearded") while still a full scholarship student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 1999. A strong presence in the worlds of the guitar and of contemporary music, Mr. Riley has toured internationally and appears regularly with the Los Angeles-based Falla Guitar Trio, the Feinsmith Quartet, and his father, the composer/pianist Terry Riley. He has received commissions from the Carnegie Hall Corporation, the New York Guitar Festival, and the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center. His NYCCGS concert features a mix of traditional and new repertoire for solo guitar.
