Synopsis

A collection of short plays including:

"The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Robot"
A Pinocchio tale in reverse, presented as a fairy tale from a foreign culture--the culture of people with Asperger's Syndrome. Features puppetry and design elements inspired by the work of autistic artists. Written by Edward Einhorn. Directed/Designed/Performed byBarry Weil.

"Doctors Jane and Alexander"
Playwright Edward Einhorn takes text from his interviews with his mother, a psychologist now suffering from dementia, about his grandfather, a hematologist who discovered the Rh factor. Mixing those interviews with interviews of other relatives, his mother's doctoral thesis, a comic about his grandfather, true crime accounts, and many other sources, he creates a portrait of himself, his mother, and his grandfather, and what binds all three. It all gets interpreted through the eyes of noted downtown director Ian W. Hill.

"The Taste of Blue"
The sound of the saxophone is blue. The letter O is blue. And blue tastes good. A woman describes her world, in which every sense calls up another. When the world turns gray, she must turn to her own imaginary landscape, filled with memories, to find something delicious. Written by Alexandra Edwards. Directed by Julia Martin.

"Vestibular"
As vertigo routinely attacks a former dancer stricken with Meniere's Disease, an informal conversation with his nurse turns into a revelation that challenges the idea of dependency as a passive force. Written by Kelly R. Haydon. Directed by Jolie Tong.
