Synopsis

Miyorka: A Different Kind of Love Story is the product of four years of careful planning and research. This musical was inspired and influenced by the West Side Story and Cinderella stories as well as the urban contemporary musical classic, Rent. The cast is comprised of 35 members.

What makes this musical both special and unique?

First, the cast is a mixture of novices coupled with seasoned actors; many of whom who have never performed in a large scale production such as Miyorka before and who are thrilled with this opportunity to showcase their respective talents.

Second, this is an urban musical, comprised of a multicultural cast who bring soulful, classical and R&B music to the stage. The musical is set in the year 2075. Miyorka is the brainchild of director/playwright George E. Brown II, CEO/Founder of G&G Production Company, Inc.

Third, the many themes in the musical range from issues of self-love, race and class to single-fatherhood and forgiveness. The musical will transport the audience to the island of "Miyorka" where it will be captivated, inspired and excited.

Fourth, the staff and board of directors offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise and have provided the actors with many opportunities and resources such as vocal training and character development classes.

Fifth, the arts community in New York City is very competitive but the producers are determined to bring this musical to a local theatre in New York and have worked hard to produce this show.
