In a fitting tribute to Stephen Sondheim's 75th birthday this year, Meredith Purgason is producing and co-starring in Merrily We Roll Along. A critical flop when it opened on Broadway in 1981, the musical has been retooled several times since then and offers inspiration for all ages. George Furth wrote the book of the musical, drawn from a Kaufman and Hart play of the same name. Uplifting numbers include "Old Friends," "Not a Day Goes By" and "Good Thing Going."
