Synopsis

Was it cancer? Was it stomach flu? Did it involve very high heels, a very low chandelier, and a 4-foot string of pearls? The mysteries surrounding the scandalous life and death of Luna Tart have never been explained, largely because no one cared. Nevertheless, the silver screen legend and world-famous chanteuse (in her own head, at least) has returned with her first CD in none-of-your-business-how-long and a new stage show. Luna started haunting Laura Freeman towards the end of 2004. She demanded purchases of fishnets, false eyelashes and swanky ball gowns. Freeman, a children's performer in Austin, TX, was alarmed at first. Then, realizing that Luna's songs of love, loss and loneliness were perfect timing as we teeter on the edge of economic disaster and a possible world war III - BRING BACK CABARET seems the right response.

The Stumblebum Brass Band is an incendiary force on the New York City music scene. Even though the band has deep respect and admiration for the art of both Louis Armstrong and Nirvana; the Stumblebums reject nostalgia in favor of riotous spontaneity. This is evidenced by the rapid-fire yet guttural vocalizations of frontman Smidge Malone who is also a ferocious trumpet player. His horn lines convey the entire canvas of human emotion which leaves audiences everywhere amazed. The basslines are dutifully carried out by Jesse Wildcards whose tuba playing displays a razor sharp acurracy as well as a playful raunchiness. The stumblebums final but in some ways most important member is the erstwhile drummer Jonny Ballz whose service is indispensable due to his charming rambunctiousness. The Stumblebum Brass Band has performed on many stages including the Mercury Lounge, The Box, Waldorf Astoria, Living Theatre, Shea Stadium, Central Park Boathouse, Rodeo Bar, Hiro Ballroom and the Hammerstein Ballroom.
