Synopsis


TheaterMania.com and Musical Writers' Playground are the sponsors for their second annual new musicals production, DownBeat II. This all-star industry event features Broadway talent performing 20-minute readings from the diverse musical works of five hot, new writing teams. The readings include:

Fetching Water - Jack and Jill went up the hill...then all hell broke loose thanks to Dick and Jane. (book & lyrics) by Leslie Becker, (book & music) by Michael Hunsacker.

Home - Falling in love in heaven is divine until one soul returns to Earth. (music & lyrics) by Jeremy David Schonfeld, (book & additional lyrics) by DJ Salisbury.

I Know What You're Thinking - A comedy about a man whose life changes when he discovers he can read people's minds. (music) by Seth Weinstein, (book & lyrics) by Jon Karp.

The King of Bombay - A young boy on his own braves life on the streets of Bombay in a tale of hope and redemption. (music & lyrics) by Joe O'Keefe, (book) by Steve Schaeffer.

Where the Lilies Bloom - Four Appalachian siblings struggle to remain together by keeping the death of their father a secret. (book & lyrics) by DJ Salisbury, (music) by Alexander Constantine.
