Part of "The Best of 13" Festival of Plays - The 13th Street Rep produces this outstanding play for a 2nd time. Conversation with a Kleagle by Rudy Gray is directed by Kevin B. Ploth. The Executive Producer is Sandra Nordgren. Based on a true story, at the height of a lynching epidemic in the late 1920's, a black journalist, passing for white, travels to the deep South to interview a Kleagle, a recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan. When his true racial identity is discovered by the Klan he escapes being lynched, only to find that his rescuer's family paid a dear price, a price that brings the journalist back to the south to confront the Kleagle and the Klan.

Review: An effort well won, and not one is a star all are!bynpg1960
Riveting, and sits well! The cast holds you, and even when you think you anticipate, there is another twist in Mr. Ploths direction, and the re-use of an actor playing three parts! The leads are well cast, and I was off put by the inconsistent accent of the Kleagle, but that was over shadowed by his shear menace and anger towards the hero John. Played very well by Tim Weinert. I have seen and followed Mr. Ploths work as an Actor, and Director, and both mantles he wears well. His intensity and weapons use is very evident in the actors in this production, and choices very clear. As seen in a sequence with the Mother and Father of John, who portray very accurate people of that time. Thank you! And yes this is the best I have seen at 13th Street to date.

Review: Mike Pirozzi is the Star of this Showbycasting123
This is a must see I agree. Some of the characters need to spice up their role. The two strong characters are Mike Pirozzi as Monahan and Aaron Walker as Wilmer Cossette. Both actors have strong stage presence. James P. Stephens delivers his all, playing three different roles. This play has great intensity.

It is a must see! Kevin B. Ploth as director, hits home! The cast delivers a one two punch! I was floored, and moved! The cast does not even take bows, and overheard that this is the directors calling card! A tableau, added powerful impact to the show! Mr. Gray should be very happy with Mr. Ploths delivery of his work.
