Synopsis
As the opening night of the 2008 Beijing Olympics approaches, a night considered to be the global celebration of unity and sportsmanship, the world keeps a close eye on it host -- China. Since it won the bid to host this event, China has been under scrutiny from the media and global human rights organizations alike. On that very same night, on the other side of the globe, Big Boy Strut Entertainment and The NY International Fringe Festival will kick off the global celebration of unity, theatre and the invention of air conditioning with the new musical by Mark Brown called, China -- The Whole Enchilada directed by Jim Helsinger, with arrangements and additional music by the Paul Mirkovich.
China -- The Whole Enchilada is three men singing, dancing, and irreverently marching their way through four thousand years of Chinese history -- in less than two hours with an intermission. Enchilada dares to tackle racism, human rights, genocide, and the birth of the fortune cookie.
The show is a tricky, but fascinating balancing act, walking the fine line between sheer, ridiculous insanity and some serious truths. In this slapstick musical about the history of China, Mark Brown has collaborated with Paul Mirkovich to create two of the funniest hours of theatre sure to keep you laughing all the way to the The Great Wall Of China and back.
