Synopsis
Giorgio Strehler, one of the great 20th century European directors, continually returned to his acclaimed production of Arlecchino, Servant of Two Masters because of its infinite possibilities for renewal. This piece, written in the 18th century by Carlo Goldoni, is the commedia dell'arte work that created a superior form of Italian character comedy. Italian actor and director Ferruccio Soleri, the great Arlecchino of our time, plays the wily servant Arlecchino, a role he has acted more that two thousand times in over forty countries. In picturesque Venice the rascally Arlecchino's sly tricks and disguises set off a chain reaction of mistaken identities, betrayals, long-lost lovers and, of course, a happy ending.
