An Evening With Sarah Bernhardt covers the course of the remarkable sixty-year career, of "the Divine Sarah" who established herself as the premier tragedienne in the West. Her very name became synonymous with acting and, long after her death, it continues to exercise a powerful spell on performers and audiences around the world. Directed by Anne Bogart, one of the leading innovators in contemporary theater, this benefit event features readings from some of Sarah Bernhardt's most celebrated theatrical roles by actresses Lynn Cohen, Cherry Jones, Ellen Lauren, Kelly Maurer, and Debra Winger, and a musical selection from Sarah Bernhardt's era performed by soprano Lauren Flanigan.
