(© Robert J. Saferstein) | William H. Macy has joined the cast of writer Abe Sylvia's feature directorial debut, Dirty Girl, according to a report in Variety.
This 1980s-set coming-of-age comedy revolves around a high school tramp who pairs up with a shy and overweight gay teen. Together, they set off to find her real father in California. Lisa Kudrow, Juno Temple, Sally Hawkins, and Jeremy Dozier are also set for film which will begin shooting in March.
Macy was last seen on Broadway in the revival of Speed-the-Plow, replacing an ailing Jeremy Piven. The actor is a co-founder of the Atlantic Theater Company, where his credits as performer and director include American Buffalo, The Joy of Going Somewhere Definite, Three Sisters, and Boy's Life. He received an Oscar nomination for Fargo and won two Emmy Awards for starring in and co-writing the telefilm Door to Door.
