 | Terrence Mann and Charlotte D'Amboise
(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Former New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d'Amboise will be joined by son Christopher, daughter Charlotte, son-in-law Terrence Mann, and Russ Tamblyn for Dancing for Jerry: Memories of Jerome Robbins, to be held at Symphony Space, Monday, December 1 at 7:30 pm.
The event will celebrate, through song, dance and reminiscences, their encounters over many years with the legendary choreographer. It will include rare film footage of Robbins dances, including "Afternoon of a Faun" with Jacques d'Amboise and Tanaquil LeClerq, "Peter Pan," revived for Tony Award nominee Charlotte d'Amboise in Jerome Robbins' Broadway, and performed to honor Mary Martin at the Kennedy Center, and "Fancy Free," revived for former New York City Ballet principal dancer Christopher d'Amboise and Mikhail Baryshnikov at New York City Ballet.
Jacques d'Amboise will also premiere a short new work of choreography, a dance based on songs from Yiddish Theater that Robbins would have heard as a 10-year-old. Isaiah Sheffer, Artistic Director of Symphony Space, will be singing those songs, featuring National Dance Institute children.
