(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | In Bruges, the first feature-length film written and directed by award-winning playwright Martin McDonagh, will open the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 17.
The film stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as Ray and Ken, a pair of hit men who badly botch a job in London, and are ordered by their boss, Harry -- played by Tony award winner Ralph Fiennes -- to cool their heels in Bruges, Belgium. When their stay takes a turn for the worse, Ray and Ken realize that Harry may have plans for them other than a simple vacation.
McDonagh received the 2006 Academy Award for his short film Six Shooter. He has been nominated for the Tony Awards for the plays The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Pillowman, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, and The Lonesome West.
