(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Arena Stage will present three performance of Taking Over, Danny Hoch's new solo show about gentrification in the new millennium, at Georgetown University's Gonda Theatre in the Davis Performing Arts Center, November 29-December 1. The show will have its official world premiere at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, California in January.
Hoch is the author of Till the Break of Dawn and is well known for his solo performances Some People and Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop. He founded the Hip-Hop Theater Festival in 2000, which has presented over 75 Hip-Hop generation plays from around the world and appears annually in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C. and San Francisco/Oakland. He is the recipient of two Obie Awards, an NEA Solo Theatre Fellowship, Sundance Writers Fellowship, CalArts/Alpert Award in Theatre, and a Tennessee Williams Fellowship.
