Shawna M. Hamic was named the winner of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's Next Broadway Sensation competition at 11pm on Friday, October 3, at the Zipper Theater. She will get to perform at the concert at the Zipper Lounge in the future. The competition was sponsored by TheaterMania.com, which provided video coverage of the competition and webcast the finals. Hamic beat finalists Mike Harrison, and Omar Lopez-Cepero, and was named winner by an audience vote.
