 | Tony Roberts in Xanadu
(© Paul Kolnik) | The Tony Award Administration Committee has decided on the eligibility of the first two Broadway productions for the season, Old Acquaintance and Xanadu, for the 2008 Tony Awards. The awards will be presented by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing on Sunday, June 15 and broadcast live on CBS.
All decisions were consistent with the opening night credits for both shows, except that Tony Roberts will be considered in the Featured Actor in a Musical category for his performance in Xanadu.
This is the first time the Tony Award Administration Committee has met this year. It will meet three more times to discuss the eligibility of shows opening in the 2007-2008 season. The cut-off date for eligibility is Wednesday, May 7 and nominations will be announced on Tuesday, May 13.
